If you’ve seen Assassin’s Creed, you may have noticed that the antagonists of the film, be they Templar Knights or employees of the Abstergo Corporation, run around screaming at the top of their lungs in the film’s many battle scenes. It leads one to believe that the producers of the film either don’t understand nerd culture and believe that they have to create such a wide gulf between hero and villain that even children will know who to root for (if this is the case they did a bang-up job putting Fassbender and fellow assassins in shades of grey while dressing the baddies in head to toe black outfits), or they’ve watched Braveheart so many times that they believe there’s only one way to accurately depict a fight between two disparate groups of people.
